Lately, my husband, George P. Inge IV, and I have begun a series of painted sculptures. George designs and makes the sculpture, and I paint it. The first one we've done is a portrait of my mother, based on a studio photograph taken of her when she was 19 or 20, before her life had unfolded.George has maintained a daily practice of abstract drawing for over forty years. His rule has traditionally been: work spontaneously, don't erase or redraw. Now we're transferring some of his drawings to canvas, so that I can paint them. As I work, I'm focused on emphasizing the spirit of fun and lightheartedness I see in them.
