Small Life
I feel a kinship with small animals, especially wild rabbits, crows and ravens, and am compelled to paint them. As I do when painting a person, I begin by trying to intuit the individual animal’s inner nature, and then work to capture that feeling in the painting. I use patterns of my own design to replace the animal's natural environment with an imaginary space.
